Hi all,

I see that Network's UFO Blu-ray is now available for pre-order with a release date of 14 November 2016!

I've put up an Amazon link and a list of special features here:

I'm already seeing people complaining about the price (90 pounds), but didn't the original Carlton Box 1 and Box 2 cost at least that much?

No it didn't, it cost about 70£ put together (I checked my orders, bought the minute they were released). Space: 1999 season 2 from network (no matter how bad the series is), from newly minted transfers cost 50£ when it appeared. And what on Earth they did to the logo on the packaging?
:(

All the best,
Branko

Ahh, well none of these releases had a 600 page book... I have to wonder if that's a typo... 600 pages???

And yes, the cover artwork isn't very good... not a good sign...

Theoretically it could be true, since book page count has to be divisible by 4...
600 pages UFO book sounds like a nice prospect, hopefully the layout will be better then we can judge from what we saw so far...

All the best,
Branko

The book is definitely 600+ pages - 620 I believe - and coming from such a renowned source as Andrew Pixley, it's bound to be good.  Let's face it, a 600+ page book on a cult TV show could cost in excess of £20 on its own!

This WILL be a very, very special release and no UFO fan can do without it.  THREE NEW documentaries, archive interview with Ed, photo galleries and, if you order from Anderson Entertainment, EXCLUSIVE postcards featuring never before seen photos.  Oh and 26 episodes of the greatest ever sci-fi TV series in HD.  It's a no-brainer, as they say!

I know what I'll be getting for my birthday this year!

The best price I've found so far is HMV, both online and in-store:

http://store.hmv.com/film-tv/blu-ray/ufo-the-complete-series?src=aff&awc=6336_1475801448_b9c7e2b4b441f7cb62acdf7b723a1fa4&utm_source=affiliate_window&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=awin

Though they've got the release date wrong: it's November 14th, not October 14th. Amazon tend to price match so, hopefully, they'll reduce their price to the same amount.

...That's amazing!  Maybe an indication of how much HMV will be selling it for in their stores (although the higher overheads associated with a 'physical' outlet might prohibit this).

I'm sure it'll come down in price fairly quickly, as these things tend to.  Still, worth every penny!!!!

Clare, I've been following a discussion about this on another site and one of its members went into his local HMV and pre-ordered at £62.99, so it's not just an online price.

Additionally, HMV do offer a free Click & Collect service, so it's possible to order online and pick it up from a local store in person.

I've also just written to Amazon UK pointing out the HMV price and asked whether they intend to drop their price accordingly.

I'm not advocating any seller above another I might add! I'm just looking for the best price and I think £60-70 tops is about right.

Re: Network's UFO Blu-ray now available for pre-order!

Derek22464
Okay, I've just got back a completely non-committal reply from Amazon:

"I understand that you wish to pre order the UFO: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] from Amazon.co.uk, however the same is available for a cheaper price at the other store (HMV).

Further you wish us to offer you a price match for this item.

I've forwarded your feedback to the relevant department.

Although we work towards offering value to customers on everything we sell on our website through consistently competitive pricing, we don’t offer pre-order rebates or price promises. We realise that from time to time, our customers will be able to buy products from another store at a lower price than ours. We recognise that you have a choice of retailers and are grateful that you’d prefer to order from us.

If you’d like to provide similar feedback in the future, you can click on the "tell us about a lower price" link under the Product Information section of any item on our website."

If I hear back from the "relevant department", I will post their reply on here.

As you say, fairly non-committal.

Having said that, I am reasonably willing to bet that the price WILL drop before release.

There is a very good chance that I might just be passing HMV on Monday 14th November and might just have to take a quick detour to the Blu-ray section!

Great looking postcards now pictured on the Official Gerry Anderson website!  There are six of them, to be included in the UFO Blu-ray when ordered from them.

https://shop.gerryanderson.co.uk/collections/ufo/products/pre-order-ufo-the-complete-series-on-blu-ray-available-mid-november

They were obviously taken during the UFO screen tests and, personally, before now I had no idea that they even existed!  Apart from the postcards it seems that there will be more of them in the image galleries on the Blu-rays.  I was especially amazed to see the photo of the 'Albino Alien', whom I had heard about but had never seen and was beginning to suspect was a bit of a myth!  But the proof is there!

Plenty more big surprises on the way!!!!!

Finally, an Amazon UK price drop:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/UFO-Complete-Blu-ray-Ed-Bishop/dp/B01LYB15X9/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1477018200&sr=1-1&keywords=gerry+anderson+ufo+blu+ray

Okay, it was really nothing to do with me, but I am taking full credit for it anyway!

Have just whacked my pre-order in and using £26.40 in e-credit means I've paid £36.59 with free delivery.

Roll on November!

Good.... now people don't need to complain about it being  £89.99.... now they can complain that it's  £62.99... :-)

Network has posted a new teaser that gives an indication what the picture quality will look like:

Ha ha!

£62.99 for just six Blu-Ray's is still a lot of money, but I suppose that is softened somewhat by the inclusion of the book. If we weren't being impatient (well, I am), I suppose Amazon would drop the price further to, say, £50 within a few months.

And I love the new teaser trailer!

Well, to be fair, shipping is not 40 GBP for people living in the UK.  And this is a UK release.  :-)
